Champagne corks were popping last night as SgurrEnergy was named winner of the award for International Trade and 2012’s Most Outstanding Business at the Glasgow Business Awards. The Glasgow Chamber of Commerce (GCC), alongside award sponsor, Bank of Scotland, announced the wins at last night’s prestigious awards ceremony, helping SgurrEnergy to celebrate 10 years in renewable energy.
SgurrEnergy’s success in the International Trade category follows the transition from a small Glasgow-based business into a 150-strong international renewable engineering consultancy with seven global offices spanning Europe, Asia and North America. Plans are in place for further international expansion in 2013 and the continued delivery of expert, impartial renewable energy engineering advice to developers and investors around the world.
The award for Most Outstanding Business was decided on in recognition of SgurrEnergy as the business most able to demonstrate all-round achievement, a clear vision for the future, success against objectives, sustained growth and be a standard bearer for success in Glasgow. In competition with sixteen other fantastic Glasgow companies, the judges recognised SgurrEnergy’s vision, strong leadership and our proactive approach to business, gleaned over ten years of experience in the industry.
Technical Director Ian Irvine commented: “We are delighted with this double award win at this year’s Glasgow Business Awards. To be recognised in our own city for our contribution to the success of business in Glasgow in our tenth year is an honour and a personal highlight. We look forward to continuing our growth and success, making a major contribution to cementing Glasgow as a global hub for renewable energy knowledge and innovation’.
With over 85,000MW of renewable energy project experience, spanning over 50 countries and six continents, SgurrEnergy provides renewable engineering expertise across all renewable technologies on projects from the Scottish highlands to Mongolia.
