Client: Clean Energy LLC
Service: Technical advisory and project management consultancy
In 2010 SgurrEnergy was appointed as technical advisor and project management consultant for Clean Energy’s 50MW Salkhit wind farm, the first wind farm to be developed and constructed in Mongolia.
The client’s renewable energy flagship project was supported by SgurrEnergy in conducting feasibility studies, TSA and BoP contract management, achieving successful financial close and monitoring of the construction phase. Key SgurrEnergy personnel were then based on-site in Mongolia to manage the project for the duration of the construction phase.
Our environmental team was involved in reviewing all project documentation and advised the client on necessary action to ensure that the project complied with Equator Principles and EBRD’s environmental and social policy. This has included an environmental and social impact assessment for an extension to the wind farm.
Throughout the construction phase of the project our engineering team provided project management support and monitored the civil, mechanical and electrical infrastructure works. A key objective of SgurrEnergy’s role was to ensure that the project was constructed in compliance with international standards and industry best practice, whilst maintaining the target schedule.
The site was energised in June 2013 and was the first independent power provider to be successfully connected to the Mongolian grid and the first new generation scheme in almost 30 years.
