Our society needs convenient, clean, safe, and efficient forms of energy that can provide efficient responses to human-induced climate change. In this context, developing a fully hydrogen economy has the potential to substantially reduce emissions of greenhouse gases within the power, transport, industrial and domestic sectors.
Hydrogen has the capacity to allow increased flexibility in responding to fluctuations in energy production and demand on a short term or seasonal basis. This technology could therefore solve the general problem of intermittency and unpredictability of renewable energies.
And hydrogen is most importantly a fuel that has the potential to replace fossil fuels, notably in the transportation sector.
SgurrEnergy, working in collaboration with the University of Strathclyde, are involved in the development of the hydrogen economy. Research work includes the development of software models allowing the optimisation and cost-benefit analysis of various hydrogen systems.
