SgurrEnergy provides a variety of wind monitoring solutions to evaluate the wind resource potential at your prospective wind farm site. We offer a complete service for all wind monitoring masts and lidar wind speed monitoring services from planning application, data collection and mast decommissioning to wind analysis services for energy yield prediction, project layout and design services. We also offer technical advisor support during the project build phase.
SgurrEnergy can offer a turn-key permanent met mast package including mast location study, design, supply, installation and O&M services. A wind farm permanent met mast will be on site for the life time of the wind farm and as such requires a robust design with ease of maintenance.
The met mast and met panel system can be designed to take into account client specific requirements. However the system normally consists of a lattice tower met mast close to the wind turbine hub height with a built in access ladder, fall and lightning protection. The mast is installed with a number of anemometers one of which would be located at hub height, a number of wind vanes, one ultrasonic heated instrument, rain detector, pressure, temperature and relative humidity. The instrumentation is connected to a met panel with consists of a data logging system and fiber optics connection to allow communications with the wind farm SCADA system.
SgurrEnergy can offer design, supply, installation and O&M services for offshore met masts and met ocean measurements. In addition SgurrEnergy can provide a comprehensive data recovery, monitoring and reporting service. SgurrEnergys installation and data management service coupled with our O&M programme provides developers with the comfort of accurate and bankable offshore data.
The met mast will consist of a foundation, transition piece and equipment platform, which will be designed, supplied and installed by our partner JP Kenny. The mast, instrumentation, data logging, power and communication systems will be designed, supplied and installed by SgurrEnergy.
SgurrEnergys met mast design can incorporate all atmospheric measurements required by developers including, met ocean monitoring from wave buoy systems or acoustic doppler current profilers ( ADCPs). In addition SgurrEnergy can incorporate the Galion LiDAR remote sensing device in to the met system design. SgurrEnergy also have extensive experience in remote power systems and satellite communication, both of which are key elements in the measurement system to allow good data coverage.
SgurrEnergy have a proven track record in delivering accurate bankable wind data globally. Through a comprehensive installation package including a detailed mast specification in accordance with the relevant IEC standards and expert study groups. SgurrEnergy can provide a full site data service from selecting a mast location taking into account the local topography and provisional turbine layout, through to installation, data recovery and analysis of the data. SgurrEnergy understand the importance of collecting accurate bankable data from site to feed into the site energy yield and analysis element of the project.
SgurrEnergy’s team has vast experience in data logging and management having installed wind measurement masts for a range of high profile clients including BT, ScottishPower, Infinis, Airtricity, Novera Energy, Nuon Renewables, Honiton Energy and TNEI. The company was the first to install and commission 70m guyed masts in the UK in 2002 and the Measurement team are currently managing 100 masts in the UK and a further 30 deployed worldwide.
