Noise Impact Assessment

 

Wind farms

A major Blue chip client invited SgurrEnergy to advise on the noise element of their UK-wide portfolio of proposed wind farms. Each project within the portfolio was required to be assessed separately due to the variety of size and environmental conditions. Negotiations were conducted with the relevant planning authorities, monitoring performed and technical reports prepared together with environmental statements for inclusion in the final environmental impact assessments.

 

 

Housing

A local authority housing partnership contacted SgurrEnergy regarding noise assessments for a small proposed housing development. The resulting survey and report prepared by the SgurrEnergy team was submitted accordingly and supported a successful planning application.

 

 

Noise at Work and Hand Arm Vibration Assessment

 

Workplace

A large utility company contacted SgurrEnergy regarding their liabilities for noise and vibration in the workplace. SgurrEnergy conducted a full noise at work risk assessment and performed a hand arm vibration survey. These assessments were summarised in a report advising the relevant processes that should be in place to protect the employees and ensure the employer complied with legislation.

 

Noise dispute resolution

 

 

Industrial

SgurrEnergy were asked by a large Blue Chip company to resolve a neighbour noise dispute. Through an onsite survey, the problem noise was identified as emanating from air to air heat exchangers and as a result the team were able to advise various costed options to remove the issue. The client successfully adopted one of the options recommended in final report and the problem was successfully removed.

 

 

Substation

A large utility company contacted SgurrEnergy with regard to complaints from a neighbour to one of its substations. SgurrEnergy were asked to investigate the noise problem and propose suitable mitigation. As well as visiting the complainant to discuss their concerns, the SgurrEnergy team monitored internal and external noise at the complainant’s premises to assess the problem. A technical report was prepared for the utility company, recommending a number of potential solutions to reduce noise at their premises and mitigate the complaints of neighbours.
