Spain eyes solar investment

10th September 2008

SgurrEnergy’s solar engineers have recently been conducting due diligence reviews of multi-megawatt photovoltaic(PV) power plants in Spain. These projects have been carried out for various confidential investors. The work included technical appraisals of the designs  including layout and module mounting mechanisms, review of the energy yield predictions, EPC contract reviews, O&M contract reviews, review of substation electrical designs,  equipment specifications including modules, inverters and mounting mechanisms, review of construction drawings, and review of interconnection agreements. In one project the plant as a peak capacity of 21MWp spread over a number of solar parks at one location in southern Spain. Ian Irvine, Technical Director stated, “We are currently working on a number of solar power projects throughout Europe, the Middle East and India and have significant expertise in this area. The solar market is booming in countries where there is significant government support in the form of feed in tariffs such as Spain, Italy and Germany.”
