South Korea reaslise wind farm plans

22 September 2008

SgurrEnergy has been appointed as Technical Advisor for construction giant Dongkuk S&C’s Yangsan wind farm in South Korea. SgurrEnergy will be involved with this project from the early stages of feasibility study including site and wind resource assessment for the proposed location. This will be followed by a turbine technology assessment and wind farm layout optimisation.

An environmental impact assessment will be carried out including noise and shadow flicker assessment. The next phase is the energy yield calculation which will incorporate cutting edge CFD wind flow modelling techniques to predict how much energy can be expected from the site given the proposed size and layout of the farm. SgurrEnergy will also produce a financial model for the project. The project is expected to be operational in the second quarter of 2009. SgurrEnergy’s Eric Walker, Principal Consultant on the project stated, “We are delighted to be working with Dongkuk S&C and look forward to seeing this project through the development phase and into construction providing clean, green energy for the people of South Korea.”
