SgurrEnergy advise on $350m acquisition

27 August 2009

SgurrEnergy recently provided technical due diligence to private equity firm Terra Firma in its acquisition of EverPower Wind Holdings Inc. The project was managed by our in-house experts in wind analysis and our team of multi-disciplinary engineers providing due diligence on the North American wind farm developer’s operational 62 MW project in Pennsylvania and portfolio of development opportunities totalling 800 MW of near-term projects in seven states. The company has a total pipeline of more than 3,500 MW. Commenting on the deal, Guy Hands, Chairman of Terra Firma, said “The US wind energy market is undergoing significant structural change and presents an attractive investment opportunity.”

Project Manager at SgurrEnergy, Chris Parcell commented, “As with any assignment dealing with a large array of development stage projects, it was critical to assess the likelihood of the portfolio being built out, and the full potential of the sites within it. Our highly experienced team provided a full appraisal of all of the projects from energy yields to permitting, purchase agreements and financial modelling.” SgurrEnergy’s presence in North America, with offices in the States and in Canada, was critical to the successful delivery of this highly challenging assignment. Expert due diligence for M&A deals and lenders is one of our key strengths in the international market and this project marks another high profile addition to our global track record.
