Dr Roy Spence has joined SgurrEnergy in the role of senior renewable energy consultant to develop the fluid analysis capabilities of the consultancy.
Roy has extensive computational fluid dynamics (CFD) expertise and ten years experience applying the technology in turbomachinery.
He said: “I will be focusing on the identification of applications suited to the implementation of advanced analysis techniques, primarily within wind analysis but also in marine and tidal areas, fully integrating these with current practice.
“Working for SgurrEnergy presents an interesting opportunity to provide a greater understanding of the complex flow regimes present in many modern renewable energy projects this will provide significant enhancements to current analysis techniques.”
Also joining the Scottish-based consultancy is due diligence team leader Simon Luby, who led the lenders’ engineer teams for the Thornton Bank and Thanet offshore wind projects.
With energy project development and due diligence experience spanning almost 12 years, Simon has led the teams on a diverse portfolio of major renewable energy project financing and acquisition deals.
He said: “Having decided to focus my career on renewable energy, moving to SgurrEnergy was an easy decision given the company’s international experience and reputation, and the number of renewable energy experts available within the company.
“This is an exciting time for SgurrEnergy as we continue to expand the breadth and depth of our expertise, both within the UK and internationally.”
