SgurrEnergy celebrated its official opening of HQ offices in Glasgow’s city centre. The occasion was marked with the unveiling of a plaque by Scotland’s First Minister, Alex Salmond.
The First Minister said: “The official opening of SgurrEnergy’s Glasgow HQ reflects the rapid success of this innovative Scottish enterprise and the worldwide demand for renewable energy technologies and expertise. Tackling global climate change presents huge opportunities for Scotland and despite the current economic slowdown our renewable energy sector is booming”.
While visiting the Bath Street offices, the First Minister took the opportunity to speak to staff and see for himself the ground-breaking new wind data system, Galion lidar which was successfully launched at the 30th Annual BWEA Exhibition in London this week commenting “Innovative and ambitious Scottish businesses, like SgurrEnergy, form the life blood of our economy. SgurrEnergy has successfully secured substantial business and economic benefits from renewable energy for Scotland and I am confident this new HQ marks the start of an exciting new chapter in this company’s success story.”
