SgurrEnergy conducted the due diligence exercise on a large hydro project in Turkey reviewing the generation equipment, maintenance, operational experience, history and performance of the plant to date. SgurrEnergy personnel with many years of operational and maintenance experience on various sized hydro plant were well placed to conduct this study and were able to identify hydro specific issues to the client.
The study included site visits, operational testing of the units, and inspection of all available components. The technical report to the client covered the following areas:
SgurrEnergy completed a pre-feasibility study of a mini hydro scheme on the River Whitewater in Hampshire. The project included a desktop hydrological, topographical, and engineering review of the site. A final pre-feasibility report including a proposed programme and financial feasibility was presented.
Harley Haddow commissioned SgurrEnergy to conduct a pre-feasibility analysis for the University of Glasgow Fish Research Station at Rowardennan. The station currently pumps water from Loch Lomond to feed through its research tanks. The field station is currently undergoing a major refurbishment and wanted to look at bringing water from the surrounding hills to put through the fish tanks. Due to the considerable head available on the surrounding hills a small hydro scheme was looked at to compensate the cost of bringing the water to the field station. This study included full site flow monitoring, correlation and long term flow analysis predictions.
SgurrEnergy was commissioned to conduct a pre-engineering feasibility study for the refurbishment of an existing hydro facility in Aberdeen in 2006. This study was to investigate the refurbishment or replacement of the existing generation assets. SgurrEnergy determined that approximately 800 kW could be generated. The study investigated
SgurrEnergy conducted a pre feasibility study on a small hydro scheme (est 60kW) at JS Salmon Ltd Allt Mor Hatchery. The Study included; assessment of the hydro resource, generation equipment options and budgetary costing, preliminary power studies, environmental / operational constraints and implementation estimates.
SgurrEnergy conducted a noise and vibration survey of the Bonnington Hydro machines. We recently conducted workplace noise risk assessments and hand arm vibration risk assessments for all the stations in the Lanark Hydro Scheme and also the Galloway Hydro Scheme.
