We are one of the UK's leading technical advisory organisations specialising in renewable energy, power generation and transmission, including wind energy, wave energy and biomass systems. Our success to date is based on in-depth process and engineering knowledge, applied in a practical manner to provide the best possible solutions and advice to our clients. Owing to continued growth and high demand for its services, the company is now seeking to recruit a translator fluent in English and Mandarin to join our implementation team. Due to the nature of the work an engineering background is essential.

Job description

The principal responsibility of this post is to:

• Accurately translate technical reports and contracts for wind farms from Mandarin to English often working under time pressure to meet strict deadlines.
• Assist with conference calls translating Mandarin into English and vice versa.

Essential criteria

• Honours Degree in Engineering 2.1 or above
• Minimum of 2 years previous project engineering experience
• Technically competent
• Competent user of Microsoft Excel and Word

The successful candidate will be required to produce translated reports to tight time scales. You should have excellent communication skills, coupled with a flexible and proactive approach to work to thrive in this busy team.

Hours: 37 hours per week. Occasional evenings to attend meetings
Holidays: 23 days and 9 public holidays
Contract: Temporary for 3 months with possible extension
