Quantity Surveyor

Our success to date is based on in-depth process and engineering knowledge, applied in a practical manner to provide the best possible solutions and advice to our clients.  Owing to continued growth and high demand for its services, the company is now seeking to recruit a quantity surveyor to join our expanding Implementation team based in Glasgow.

 

Job description

The principal responsibilities of this post are to:

  • Support renewable project developments, providing quantity surveying input at various points throughout the full project lifecycle. This is likely to include Project Estimating and Cost Planning, Tender Procurement, Cost Control and Cost Monitoring, Contract Admin and Valuation and Final Accounting.
  • Review of EPC type tender documentation for bill of material compliance and check that plant and man-hour rates comply with present market rates.
  • Preparing and presenting cash flow and cost management advice to clients
  • Review and comparison of renewable energy operational costs against present market rates.
  • Substantiate payment milestone applications and variations claims.
  • Produce a database of project lifecycle costs for renewable energy projects.  
  • Attending off site meetings and surveys.

Other duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Providing quantity surveying report for product developments.
  • Other ad hoc activities as and when required.

Essential criteria

  • Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or similar.
  • Achievement of or your progression towards MRICS, MInstCES or MCIOB or equivalent qualification
  • Significant postgraduate experience of civil and electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of civil and electrical infrastructure bill of material, plant and manpower rates.
  • Technically competent.
  • The successful candidate will be required to produce reports for clients and so attention to detail, reliability, good organisational skills are paramount.
  • You should have excellent communication skills, coupled with a flexible and proactive approach to work to thrive in this busy team.
  • IT proficient with extensive exposure to spreadsheets and QS specific software.

Desirable criteria

  • A working knowledge of EPC type contract terms and conditions.
  • An interest in renewable energy and/or sustainability.
  • Demonstrate experience on your CV of your ability to perform unassisted a number of the quantity surveying duties listed above
