Environmental Consultant – Environmental Impact Assessment and Planning

Owing to continued growth and high demand for its services, the company is now seeking to recruit a Consultant in EIA and Planning to join our expanding team based in Glasgow.

Job description

• Supporting the delivery of EIAs for renewable energy projects in the UK and worldwide.
• Apply knowledge and understanding of environmental and planning legislation and UK regulations (England, Wales and Scotland).
• Liaison with specialist EIA sub consultants.
• Support renewable project developments, providing appropriate input at various points.
• Review environmental documentation and permits on behalf of clients. Evaluate potential issues.
• Establish and maintain environmental/planning stakeholder relationships.
• Liaison with clients and potential clients.

Other duties may include but are not limited to:

• Attending client and site meetings and projects outside the UK.
• Develop and apply knowledge of European/local country environmental and planning legislation.
• Providing planning and permitting advice to support renewable energy projects generally.
• Other ad hoc activities as and when required.

Essential Criteria

• Degree level educated.

• Experience of EIA in the UK.
• Technically competent.
• Competent PC user.
• The successful candidate will be required to contribute to reports for clients and so attention to detail, reliability, good organisational skills are paramount.
• You should have excellent communication skills, coupled with a flexible and proactive approach to work to thrive in this busy team.

Desirable Criteria

• Post graduate qualification in an environmental subject.
• Expertise in environmental and planning legislation and regulations.
• An interest in renewable energy and/or sustainability.
• Experience of renewable generation projects.
• Experience of working with both Public and private sector clients.
• Experience of international EIA and due diligence projects.

Hours: 37 hours per week. Occasional evenings to attend meetings.

Holidays: 23 days and 9 public holidays.

Contract: Permanent after 3 month probationary period.
