About Us

SgurrEnergy is one of the UK’s leading technical advisory engineering consultancies specialising in renewable energy. Established in 2002, UK operations are based at our headquarters in Glasgow. 2006 saw the opening of our first international office in China (Beijing), followed in 2007 by an office in India (Pune). The location of these offices enable us to serve the rapidly growing Asian sustainable energy market, We also have offices in the north of Scotland, (Scrabster), in Ireland (Wexford), France (Paris) and Canada (Vancouver) and recently announced the opening of our Boston office in America. Our global team of over 100 sustainable energy consultants has extensive UK and international experience providing services in over 30 countries across 6 continents. Projects include consultation and due diligence advice in wind, wave, bio energy, hydro, solar and microgeneration power sources as well as offering noise impact assessment for wind farms and other installations through our dedicated noise and vibration team. The Technical Services team at SgurrEnergy provides a wide range of solutions to clients worldwide including extensive wind monitoring options, technical advisor expertise, operation and maintenance consultancy.

 

Recent highlights

SgurrEnergy has worked on projects for non grid connected power systems specially designed for remote locations and capacities of only a few hundred kilowatts (kW), right up to some of the world’s largest renewable energy developments with capacities of thousands of megawatts (MW). Our consultants have worked on onshore wind farm projects across the globe including Europe's largest wind farm on Eaglesham Moor near Glasgow, Scotland and a pioneering 50 MW project in Inner Mongolia, China. We were recently commissioned to carry out a comprehensive wind monitoring assessment for BT to develop a portfolio that will generate up to 25 per cent of its current UK electricity requirements by 2016, a scheme which will be worth around £250 million. The company has also advised lenders on a number of offshore wind farm projects including Ormonde and Thanet in the UK, Thornton Bank in Belgium, and Q7 in the Netherlands and recent due diligence assignments also include advising Scottish and Southern Energy on their £1.1bn acquisition of Irish wind farm developer and operator Airtricity in February 2008.
