SgurrEnergy, a Wood Group company, is a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy specialising in renewable energy. Providing engineering and technical advisory services in onshore and offshore wind, solar, wave and tidal and hydro projects, our global team of over 100 engineers and consultants has extensive international experience having assessed over 65,000MW of renewable energy developments worldwide.
Established in 2002 by Directors Ian and Steve, UK operations are based at our headquarters in Glasgow. Our first international office was opened in Beijing, China in 2006 followed by an office in Pune, India in 2007. We also have offices in Argyll, the north of Scotland, Ireland (Wexford), France (Paris), Canada (Vancouver) and the USA (Portland, Maine). In September 2010, SgurrEnergy became a Wood Group company, joining the Wood Group Kenny business unit. This supports our ongoing strategy to expand and enhance our renewable energy capability. Wood Group Kenny’s extensive offshore project experience, together with our specific renewable energy expertise and proprietary technology, will create a leading player in the renewable energy services sector.
In October 2008 SgurrEnergy launched Galion Lidar, an all sky scanning lidar device capable of capturing wind speed and directional data at a range of up to 4km. Galion Lidar is exclusively available from SgurrEnergy for rental and sale on wind farm development projects and operational wind farms.
